OUGD505: Design Production 2 - Studio Brief 2: An Exhibition of Beer Culture Studio Session

Compared to other studio briefs we have undertaken as part of the course our second studio brief of the Design Production 2 module has been quite independently driven, therefore this studio session was a point of reflection where we could step back from our project, to evaluate our progress compared to the beginning of the brief so we could continue with a more informed understanding before the module submission in three weeks time.

We began the session by listing questions which at this point in the project we did still not know about the brief we ourselves had written, therefore creating as 'to-do' list for ourselves of things we needed to find out through research.

From the discussion, following this short task, we discovered that many of the class where not entirely sure of their final list of design outcomes for their brief, therefore this is something we addressed later on in the session.

Once we had created our own 'to do' list for research we were then asked to create lists of what we personally felt was important for our brief and what we would still like to learn and get out of this brief, this would then inform the practical aspect of the design process.

As this has been a more substantial brief which has been ongoing for many weeks, we were then asked to re-read the brief we wrote at the start of our project in order to remind us of what we had set out to do. For many of us this was the first time we had re-read the brief in quite a while and therefore we were able to look at the brief more objectively, underling what we personally felt were the key words of the brief and getting rid of any unnecessary pieces of information.

Following this we were then able to write a more comprehensible brief which would aide us when producing the solutions to our given problem, we began this process by outlining key points about who our audience was and this would inform the design decisions we made and producing a list of possible deliverables being as imaginative as possible.
